Forest Stewardship Plan for Kalum Ventures Ltd, Kitselas Forestry LP, and Kitselas First Nation
A draft Forest Stewardship Plan (FSP) has been prepared for the operations of Kalum Ventures Limited, Kitselas First Nation and Kitselas Forestry Limited Partnership for the areas to be managed under their tenures within the Coast Mountains Natural Resource District. The FSP area can generally be described as the area including: the Kitsumkalum watershed; areas on both sides of the Skeena River from Fiddler Creek in the east to Dasque Creek in the West; and a portion of the Kitimat Valley.
The FSP describes Forest Development Units (FDUs) and the results and strategies that will be applied on these FDUs to ensure consistency with legal objectives for critical resource values. The objectives are described in the Forest and Range Practices Act, its associated regulations and the Kalum Sustainable Resource Management Plan. The term of the FSP will be five years.
The FSP will be available for review and comment from Friday, June 16, 2017 to Tuesday, August 15, 2017.
